That's how much of the household work I was carrying when I finally put it in a spreadsheet. Five other people lived in my house.

Every family has a default parent.

I tried app after app, calendar after calendar, list after list: printed checklists, digital checklists, sticky notes, a shared doc, even a PowerPoint for the five men in my house. I'd still get a text asking what size shoe kid number four wears because cleats were on sale.

"All I was doing was reformatting the same mental load into different formats."

Kids don't skip the dishwasher to be cruel. They honestly don't see it, and they don't look for it. FamilyInsight is built to fix the looking-for-it part, with one app that works for the adults and the kids, so the whole family actually uses it.

Everything in one place, for everyone.

Parents and kids each get their own login, and what they see depends on their role. No more five apps that only one person keeps up with.

Built for real families, not perfect ones.

Kids ask instead of assume

Event requests and ride requests go to a parent for a yes or no. The asking is the difference. It turns you back into a parent instead of the family chauffeur.

Made with neurodivergent brains in mind

Photos of what "finished" looks like, focus timers for time blindness, reminders and self-evaluation. These are executive function supports from 20 years in special education, built into everyday tasks.

Works on any device

No app store needed. FamilyInsight runs in any phone, tablet or computer browser and saves to the Home Screen like an app, so the kid without a phone can still use the family tablet.

Help shape it before launch.

My own family has been using FamilyInsight every day, and we keep adjusting it as we go. This November, a small group of families will test it free before the full launch in January.

  1. Request a spot. It takes about a minute: your name, your household size, and the one feature you can't live without.
  2. Get your invite. Beta families get set up with their own private family space in November.
  3. Tell me what works. Your feedback shapes what launches in January.

Hi, I'm Amanda.

I spent more than 20 years as a special education teacher, I'm a two-time National Board Certified Teacher, and I'm a mom of four neurodivergent boys. I've sat on both sides of the IEP table. I quit my career because the default-parent load was costing me my health, and I'm bound and determined to end that cycle in my own house.

FamilyInsight started with a plate of eggs left on the kitchen counter, one morning after I'd asked for the hundredth time. Instead of losing it, I started building. Now one of my boys books his own golf lessons, sends me the request and picks the day that makes the driving easier. That's the whole point.

Questions

Is it in the App Store or Google Play?

No, and you don't need it to be. FamilyInsight is a web app. Open the link in your phone's browser, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen," and it opens like any other app.

Do my kids need their own phones?

No. Kids can sign in on a tablet, a computer or a shared family device. Each person gets their own login so they see their own tasks, events and money.

What does the beta cost?

Nothing. Beta families use it free in November and help shape it. Pricing will be announced before the January launch.

Who can see our information?

Each family gets its own private family space. Within the family, roles control what people see. Parents can make events private or adults-only, kids only see their own medications, and private goals stay with the person who made them.

Do we have to use the pay feature?

No. Tasks can be paid or unpaid. Some families pay by the hour, and plenty just want everyone to see what needs doing and get it finished.

Stop being the only one who knows when the milk expires.
